Tried neat. On the nares I get sweet peppers, brown sugar, maple syrup, & candied nuts. On the palate I was surprised to find it somewhat harsh initially but I think it was just unexpected. I get an earthy & vegetal flavor with notes of pepper and wood. Addendum: I would say I was surprised by the profile given my somewhat immature palate for rums. I mentally expected a sweet finish and this is not that. However, the thin, dry, leaves you wanting more finish is new to me! Eager to try the next 2 rums that were bought together to equal a beautiful case of 3 rums from Jung & Wulff at the Sazerac house in NOLA.
