Slainte-Mhath
Talisker 8 Year (2021 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland

There is no right or wrong when it comes to taste, but the hate and confirmation bias this expression received really puzzled me, and I beg to disagree. Surprisingly peaty, briny and mineral, the nose features an intriguing mix of lime juice, aniseed and herbal teas. Sugary and vanilla-driven at first, the palate progresses with white pepper, crisp apples and bitter lemon. Ashy peat smoke, salt and a touch of chili arise, leading all the way into the long and interesting finish. This is a characterful and complex whisky emphasizing everything Talisker stands for!

@PBMichiganWolverine It's hard to blame the distilleries or Diageo at this level of inflation, people are buying anything with intrinsic value hand over fist, and I don't blame them.
@Slainte-Mhath these and the Lag are always good in the annual special release. Unfortunately the price has been climbing a lot
@cascode Good to hear from you, has been a while! I really liked the 2018 Special Release, and this expression is pretty close. I definitely recommend to try it!
The previous 8 and 15 year special releases were stunning - not had this one yet but keen to try it now. Cheers!
Additional comment: I tasted this malt and wrote my tasting notes before reading any reviews online. I am aware that Serge@Whiskyfun gave it 91 points, and there are a lot of reviews on Whiskybase challenging his opinion. Personally, I think this is great stuff and I bought 2 bottles after my first dram. Guess that says enough.
