Springbank 18 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed
April 16, 2022 (edited January 28, 2023)
2018 bottling
Nose: Musty warehouse, motor oil, seashore, hints of vanilla, caramel and mixed berries.
Palate: Oily, savory and spicy, this feels substantial, a proper scotch. Notes of seashore and umami, hints of caramel, anise, tropical fruits and lemon.
Finish: Long, mildly spicy and salty, umami hangs on to the end.
This may be sacrilege, but based on the sample bottles, I prefer the 15 year.
Thanks to @ctbeck11 for the sample

@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington 😂😂 I suspect that this would grow on me if I had a full bottle rather than a sample
I may be a flawed human being, but you had me at musty warehouse and motor oil.
Not sacrilege. I wasn’t blown away by this one either. I’m a bigger fan of sherry matured releases, and this batch was 100% ex-bourbon casks.
