I really wanted to like this one more than I actually did. It starts off just fine on the nose with vanilla and light fruit.
Initially, the taste is very close to the aroma with honey and fruit, however, in the end there is a flavor note there that just doesn't sit well with me. The best way I can describe it is meat broth.
This is probably an issue with my pallette and not the whiskey, but I just couldn't get past it when drinking it neat. It did mix well, hence the 2.5 stars. I have really enjoyed the other Bushmills varieties that I've tried (with Black Bush being my favorite), so if I can locate a second bottle of this I'll give it another try. Hopefully it will be different the second time around.

Yes, I thought this one was pretty average and I also got that odd note in the finish, although for me it was more bitter and hard. If you have the opportunity to taste the 16 year old at some time don’t pass it up - it’s a much better whiskey (but I’d recommend a pour before buying a whole bottle).
I was super disappointed with this one as well. It did get better with a little time open, so don't give up yet, but I'm with you. I much prefer the Black (maybe even the Red) over this one.
