On the initial nosing I get musty wood, shoe polish, maple syrup, ginger, and baked apple.
As the nose develops I also get raisin, sherry, stewed prunes, and a hint of baked bananas.
On the palate it’s smooth, thick and oily, a little heat, and sweetness.
The finish is short to medium length with a mouth coating sweetness and a bit of spiciness.
Overall this is a pleasant easy drinking dram with decent complexity. Definitely one for the sherry lovers, but not quite as over the top as some of the younger and cask strength types.
