This is exactly what it should be.
The classic Talisker profile is perfectly balanced with the sherry. Unlike most Talisker, this one becomes better with air and time. The Sherry note becomes louder and more refined. 2021 edition.

I love Talisker, and I also love each of Diageo's Distillers Editions.
@angstrom possibly. Perhaps I just have a disposition against the adultery of salty bacon.
@DrRHCMadden I’ve had a couple port finished bottles (Glenmo and Glendronach). Seems like they need a lot of time and air; at first the port and whiskey are a little oil and water, but then after a couple months become nicely integrated.
@angstrom I had one at a tasting event in store recently (I took no notes…) but, it was in essence T10 with a sherry finishing. I could see it was good, and well made; unsurprising, this is talisker after all. But, I found the fruity and sweet notes from the sherry casking too at odds with the delightful salty bacon brine I love in T10, which was also present in the Ruighe. I just didn’t “get it”. It seemed unnecessary. I think this distillers reserve you’ve had here might be the same issue for me…
@DrRHCMadden Unfortunately I have never seen that one locally. And the Talisker 18 has disappeared before I ever got to buy a bottle.
How does this compare to the Port Ruighe?
