The nose starts with a burst of sharp brine, reminiscent of an Islay scotch. That sharpness though is balanced by dry oak and wine sweetness, all carrying undertones of vanilla and black pepper.
The palate is somewhat rich, slowly making its way to the corners of the mouth while the black pepper coat the sides of the tongue. Creamy vanilla and oak splash across the tongue with hints of the brine swirling all about. The blend of rye with the port and scotch finish give it a very creamy, almost bourbon feel to it, but sharp rye spice reminds you that it is in fact a rye. It has the best of spice and sweet, giving you an incredible experience.
The finish is medium long and peppery with a lingering rye spice while oak and vanilla stay around mid palate and gently fade.
