Gobs of molasses, overripe banana, papaya, and Funk. There’s some hidden corn syrup in Oak notes. A little ethanol, a little tobacco
Burn burn burn with tons of tobacco, leather, papaya, mango, creme brûlée, and caramel that sort of fights an earthier molasses - the latter wins in the finish. Subsequent sips add in bits of blonde espresso, dark chocolate and a bit of barnyard.
Fantastic value. My only complaint is that it comes across thin and lacks some of the oak notes of say an unsweetened, aged Barbados rum. More challenging than a Doorleys 12, less approachable for some thanks to loads of borderline rancid hogo. Must try bottle that makes me want to explore other Jamaican rums.

@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington I forgot to mention that I really dig rum from Fiji, which has a funky quality to it much like Jamaican rum, but less dunder and more diesel fuel.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington none of them are very hogo heavy, but the Martinique Rhum has a very unique flavor profile I quite enjoy. Check out the Rhum JM line. Usually the VSOP one is available.
@LouisianaLonghorn of those other 3 regions, which would you say remained near the top of your hogo limit?
"loads of borderline rancid hogo"...............yeah baby
I appreciate the craftsmanship in Jamaican rum but the funky hogo gets to be too much for me. I tried this one, Worthy Park, and the Plantation from Jamaica. Terrific mixer but difficult to sip. Much prefer rum from Barbados, Guyana, and Martinique.
