1.5 stars - Flawed; 3 glasses
I will not be finishing the bottle. Great concept, flawed execution.
This tastes like someone decided to ruin Cardhu 12 yr. Grainy in a bad way when taken neat. Thought it might be better on the rocks - that was all wooden astringency.
Yikes. Something went awry here.

@Adaminak Batch variation is real and everyone has a different palate. I really wanted to like this one, but I’ve had to pour out each glass. And I generally like most JW and Diageo scotch.
@angstrom ok, good to know!
@angstrom that’s troubling. I had a bottle a year ago and was really surprised with how much I enjoyed it.
@Adaminak Label says blended malt, 10 year. But flavor says cheap grain.
Per JW website: Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker is a new, limited-edition whisky from Master Blender Emma Walker that heroes whisky from Cardhu – a nearly 200 year old distillery in the heart of Speyside that flourished under the leadership of Elizabeth Cumming. This pioneering woman ultimately sold Cardhu to the Walker family in 1893, but played a significant role in the brand’s history.
@jdriip 100% not Black label; totally different taste.
I thought this was a blended malt?
@cascode thanks for the info. Might be fun to try side by side with the black label, see if I can taste any difference.
@jdriip I do not know for certain (no-one but Diageo does) but I doubt it is that simple. It's most likely a slight variant on the Red/Black baseline formula with less Caol Ila and more Cardhu. That's just a guess on my part, but it tastes like that.
Isn’t Jane Walker just Johnnie Walker black in a different bottle?
