Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Nose: very oak forward as expected, dark candied cherries, canned chocolate frosting, and that classic Jim Beam nuttiness
Palate: oak is not out of balance even with it being 18 years old, plenty of sweet Virginia pipe tobacco, and leather, very rich on the palate
Finish: slight bitterness (oak tannins?) are balanced nicely with the high cocoa chocolate, and a little nutty dryness that is a dead giveaway for Jim beam. Dryness disappears and I’m left with pipe tobacco and wood lingering for several minutes
