Four Gate Batch 4 Split Stave
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Nose: vanilla, smoky oak, orange peel, toasted caramel. Palate much the same. Deeply oaky. Some pepper on the finish. Favorite so far of the three I've tried. Deep, dark, rich. I have no idea what this might be. Maybe a sourced Heaven Hill again, although I'm now feeling less and less confident in my guesses.
Big Kentucky thank you to @Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington for the sample!

@Anthology i had the Australian tawny port finished bourbon - rye blend. I’d not recommend it.
@PBMichiganWolverine which rye do you have? I saw a couple 4Gate ryes locally and was contemplating a purchase. One is an 8-year barrel proof and the other is the Kelvin split stave. Does either sound familiar (I.e. what you have)?
@PBMichiganWolverine they seem to be putting out astronomically priced finished bourbons - that said I’ve enjoyed their non-finished bottlings
@soonershrink of course, out of all the good Four Gates out there, I buy the one lonesome submediocre Br-Rye one
