Peated cask rum from Balcones. I really enjoy the creativity from the guys there in Waco.
Small taste at a friend’s house last night. This was definitely the most interesting thing I tried. I wouldn’t have identified this as a rum on the nose. The flavors are well balanced between the sweetness of the rum, fruit, and funky peat. Hoping to get a proper pour soon and add some more notes.

Interesting indeed.....I really need to get over to the distillery one of these days and see what they got
@soonershrink Yeah, I check their website once/twice a week, but what's offered rarely changes. This one might take more effort.
@skillerified yeah, they put the rum in their own peated casks to age. I believe it’s 33 months in the barrel. I think it’s worth a go if you can find it. I’ve been hoping it would show up for sale on their website, but then a friend had someone bring him one from the distillery.
Peated cask? As in The Peated? I want this.
@soonershrink that’s interesting combo——aging rum in peated casks. I would think the smoke + sweet would be a great BBQ type of flavor
