On the nose, notes of rye spice and black pepper hit first followed by the sweet notes of vanilla, honey, caramel, and honey. Further smelling provides notes of peanut shells and green apples. Upon tasting, the mouth swirl fills tongue with the peppery notes, with very little throat burn or nasal filling an artifact of the low proof. Further sips open the palate to the honey, vanilla, green apple, and caramel notes with a slight white grapefruit and a slight unripened mango. Peanuts that other tasters describe are not that apparent on my palate. The rye spice and peppery notes stick around on the tongue but the sweeter notes dissipate quickly. Nose 2.5/5; Taste 3/5; Overall 2.75/5. This bottle would go beautifully in a bourbon mule or with ginger ale.
