The nose is a mixture of baking spices, vanilla, citrus, and some burnt sugars. The taste is sweet but with some bitterness, almost a minerality. The longer it sits in the glencairn, the more banana becomes apparent, typical of Old Forester. The vanilla is very present as is caramel, with the citrus becoming muted. I think i prefer the 1897 for a 100 proof offering more than this offering. As with all Old Forester products, i do find that the more patient you are and allow the pour to sit, the better it becomes and the more of the banana notes develop. The nose hits a series of notes starting with brine, green apple, apricot, and bartlett pear, and than transitions to vanilla, grapefruit, and honey. Swishing the glencairn results in the glass being coated.....this girl has legs!!! The first taste was very full bodied - vanilla, citrus ( almost marmalaide) in sweetness, honey, smoke, and brine. The wine finish is very apparent in this offering and creates complexity. First taste - exceptional. Going in deeper, second and third sips result in the palate to become supersaturated in sugars with the palate and teeth feeling furry. The finish is very long and extremely satisfying. There is so much going on....sea spray, vanilla, honey, citrus, and some notes of clove and cardamon. Remarkable. Nose- 4.75/5 Taste - 4.75/5 Overall - 4.75/5 Repurchase - yes

The nose is delicate with notes of vanilla, bartlett pear, white pepper, and a small amount of citrus. The flavors transfer to the palate with the vanilla coating the roof of the mouth and teeth creating a salivating sensation and want for the next sip. The spice from the pepper hits the throat gently causing a bit of a burn for only fleeting. The sugars from the vanilla linger for quite a while and bring forth the citrus. There is also perhaps a bit of oak and leather. This is my first whisky from Sons of Vancouver and I am glad I purchased this bottle as it is worth the money. Looking forward to other offerings. Nose: Green apple, apricots, pear, pineapple, vanilla, and some briny seawater Taste: Vanilla, apple, baking spices, and some brine. The taste is extremely pleasant and coats the entire mouth. The teeth get coated in sugars, the roof of the mouth in vanilla, and the throat in mild spice. The finish is long lasting and very rich in flavor. I was pleased to come across this offering from Arran in our province during an allocation event. This, as well as a Cherry cask finished offering were available in small quantities. I passed on the Cherry casked offering this time but regrettably. I will be pursuing more offerings from Arran after tasting this simpler offering. The nose is bright with spicey notes upfront. Honey, vanilla, and mint are present with green apple and citrus also apparent. The taste is sweeter than the nose with brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla notes strongly accentuated. The nosing suggests a burn would be forthcoming due to the spicey nose but this was rather mild and quickly dissipated. There was some bitterness but overall this is a decent offering from Bulleit but not better than there rye. For those who love a spicey nosing this one may be for you but for the price, there are far better for less. The nose is very mild with a vanilla note front and center. Honey, apple, and a smidge of caramel are also apparent. Vanilla is the key tasting note, but some white grapefruit and honey is also present. It is surprisingly oily for an 82 proof offering and the finish lingers for a fair amount of time with sugars and some mild spice. Overall a very simple bourbon and nothing at all remarkable. Very smooth and an easy sipping whiskey. Nose: 2.5/5 Taste: 3/5 Overall: 2.75/5 Repurchase: No - so many other offering better and more affordable Type: Daily Drinker60.99 CAD per Bottle

Reviewed February 7, 2025 (edited April 17, 2025)The nose is filled with leather, toffee, vanilla, and butterscotch. Feint notes of citrus and honey are also present. This one surprised me a bit as she drinks rather hot. The first sip struck the back of the throat with considerable burn. Letting it sit for a while seemed to mellow her out and notes of butterscotch, green apple, vanilla, and honey were present with considerable spice also present. Hard to pick out any of the finishing from the sherry casks here, but this review is from the neck pour. The nose is a mix of honey, orange marmalade, apricot and a touch of smoke. The aroma is pleasant but rather feint. The palate is loaded with smoke, sugars, and honey. The orange marmalade note from the nose is lost and replaced with the sugars. The finish is fleeting but does produce a salivation in the mouth. This is okay to drink neat, but is excellent in a smoked Old Fashioned, Penicillin, or Rob Roy. Overall: Nose 3.5/5 Taste: 3.0/5 Overall 3.25/5 Repurchase: Yes Type: Mixer59.99 CAD per Bottle

Nose: Honey, bartlett pear, mild lemon, vanilla, and a some bready notes (good white bread). Taste: Lots of honey, some of the citrus, and vanilla. If I didn't know better I honestly would think I was drinking Johnnie Walker Black Label. Crazy resemblance. After reviewing this product, I came back to my review as I found out that Cardhu supplies Johnnie Walker with alot of its whiskey.....lol....nailed it. The nose is loaded in oak and peppery notes mixed with the sweetness of vanilla and butterscotch. The palate is sweeter and loses most of the oakiness. Vanilla, honey, fig, and apricot infiltrate the roof of the mouth and coat the tongue. Disappointingly, the finish is rather fleeting with nothing really hanging around to trigger a salivating event and the want for the next sip. If you like your whiskey experience to be short and sweet, than this is the bottle for you, but if you enjoy a lasting complex finish than seek other options. At $80, this is a one and done as there are so many more better whiskeys at this price point to invest in.
