Aroma- Dark heavy notes shine through. Actually smells older than what it is which is awesome. Lot os complexity here and as it opens, new aromatics pop. Really inviting every time nose goes to glass and the balance is wonderful.
Dark fruits and even some red apples and cherries come to mind. Old musty oak, black pepper, and a huge blast of vanilla and melted butter. Dark brown sugar and cinnamon.
Taste - Getting more of the typical bourbon notes than anything else here. Caramel, vanilla, some cinnamon spice. But there is a weird almost green-like note coming through that I cannot pinpoint. Slight nuttiness.
Average viscosity… but a big hug on the finish. There is a very slight bitterness and a little drying on the finish that I’m picking up throwing it just a bit out of balance.
Overall - Tale of two tapes for me here. Aroma is amazing, taste just average. Especially for the age. Was hoping for more oak since it was so prevalent on the nose.
