Light in body, but packed with character, Back Room Deal presents a very interesting flavor journey. Starting out somewhat sweeter than a rye, the smoke pops in after a few seconds with a subtle wash of peaty goodness. Then as this softly fades, there is a sweet caramel charcter that stays for the rest of the ride. The finish is fairly long with very light smoke at the tail end. A very easy going and easy to drink rye, the ex-Scotch aging adds an elegant air without overtaking the vibrant American whiskey. Try this with a fine cigar, or after a dinner of wild game and root vegetables.
