In 2011, there was a lawsuit for the registration of the name (Havana) between the owners of this Brazilian cachaça and the company Havana Clube Holding S/A, of Havana Club rum. Justice decided that cachaça could use the name Havana. Cachaça Havana began to be produced in the early 1940s by Anísio Santiago, at Fazenda Havana, at the foot of Serra dos Bois, in Salinas, in the north of Minas Gerais. Cachaça Havana is one of the most traditional artisanal cachaças in Brazil and considered by many to be the most famous brand of the national distillate. It is stored for 12 years in balsam barrels, typical wood from the Salinas region, Minas Gerais. Robust, it has an alcohol content of 47%. It is so important for the cachaceira culture of the state and Brazil that it was recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Salinas in 2006. (Visual) Possessing bright golden yellow color Havana is clear. (Nose) Great herbal aroma. Perfect viscosity proven by the persistent tears that form on the edge of the glass. (Mouth) Palate marked by balsam wood with hints of herbs, especially fennel and aniseed, among countless others. Very rich. Alcohol is very present but without bothering. Soft and velvety, it surprises in the smell and in the mouth. (Conclusion) An excellent option for those seeking differentiated sensory richness in a full-bodied alcoholic beverage Certifications .INPI - Indication of Origin (Salinas) .IBD Seal - Organic Product Brazil awards Havana is elected the best cachaça in Brazil by the V Ranking of the Cachaça Summit 2022/2024 Cachaça Havana won the award for Best Cachaça in Brazil in the Stored/Aged category .2018 - 17th Place in the Cúpula da Cachaça Ranking. .2016 - 10th Place in the Cúpula da Cachaça Ranking. .2009 – Best Cachaça in Brazil – Playboy Magazine (August edition) .2007 – 2nd Best Cachaça in Brazil – Playboy Magazine (April edition) .1990 – Best Cachaça in Brazil – Playboy Magazine (April edition)
