Writing this review and enjoying this so much makes me realize... I've kind of arrived. I truly enjoy the peatiest of peaty Islay scotches... This is really an amazing Scotch. Like a tough guy from the northeast with a thick brash crusty outer personality. But once you get beyond that, a sweet, complex and even delicate heart.
At first it's like walking towards a camp sire with a distant campfire. Smokey & Meaty at first, then it opens to show some grain, honey and even fruity notes. A sweetness comes out that you would never think could hide here. But it does.
Water makes it richer, brings out mint and menthol. Deeper with a longer finish. Glorious
