Fazenda Barreiras, initially known in the Jequitinhonha Valley region as the headquarters of a mining company, also became, five years ago, a field for the production of the oldest and most consumed Brazilian drink: cachaça, converting sugar cane into a distillate. professional and qualified.
Cachaça Barreiras, a 100% natural and artisanal product, comes from the small town of Senador Modestino Gonçalves, 90 km from Diamantina. The hands of the cachaceiro master strictly follow the artisanal process that began more than 300 years ago in the region and has conquered and pleased the finest palates.
With a touch of entrepreneurship from Business Administrator Guto Barbosa Mello and Mining Engineer Ramiro Dias Toledo, part of the farm was transformed into a modern cachaça production center, equipped with a copper still, several oak barrels for storage, its own cane field and capacity to produce two thousand liters per month.
Distribution and commercialization has been carried out since the end of 2013 and it has already participated in fairs such as the World Cachaça Festival in Salinas, Superminas, Expocachaça and Cachaça Gourmet, gaining recognition, connoisseurs and the market in Minas Gerais and São Paulo. Currently, two types of Cachaça Barreiras are available: silver, which does not go through the aging process, and gold, stored for two years in oak.
From sugarcane harvesting, with zero addition of pesticides, to fermentation, distillation and storage, Barreiras guarantees the best product, in terms of quality and origin.
