Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Colour: Auburn to mahogny. Did not expect Small Batch to have this kind of deep tone.
Coats the glencairn glass with a thick and almost sticky feel. Not too many legs to care about.
Nose: Butterscotch, campfire marshmallow, sawdust, old sauna wood. Nail polish remover
Swirl it for a while. Alcohol gets through even more and it feels a bit lighter.
Mouth: Its the usual but more rich and rustic toffee, vanilla, burnt rye spices up the back of the palate when chewing. Peppery and got a pretty descent bite to it that lingers.
Finish: Dry tannins on cheek inside, slightly bitterness of char. Breaths of rye and oakiness. Warm nice feel. That pleasant satisfaction of tobacco and leather that i think you appreciate the older you get.
Overall: My expectations wasnt that high. Another budget i thought..
But i got really surprised by this one. Its well suited in a dram in front of the autumn fireplace. I havent tried any Pappy, Weller, Stagg Jr or pricey barrel proof high ends.
But since Elijah Craig Small Batch suits both my wallet and taste buds i got no reason to aim higher at the moment.
This is a damn good bourbon!
