I have to admit that i went into this one a bit skeptical on if i would like it. I was quite pleasantly surprised.
This is the 132 proof bottle ao not aure whizh batxh off the top of my head.
The nose is extremely good. You know its a rye but its not that botanical nose that you get off some lesser expensive rise. This definitely has more of a apple note on it and even at 132 proof you do not get any ethanol on the nose which again was a very pleasant surprise.
The taste is excellent as well with some light rye and those apple notes coming through. Very warming and you know you are in Hi proof territory but not in a bad way. You definitely get some warming in the chest, but there really is not a big burn so the Finish really compliments, the taste.
At around 70 bucks this is a definite buy. The closest thing I can think that someone else may have had is barrel seagrass. They taste very similar, and would be an interesting side by side.
I have had rare perfection, which I believe is also Canadian rye, and this is much better.
