Aroma - massive rye, pepper, bold alcohol presence. As it opens up, this thing explodes with complexity. Every time I come back to it something new decides to come out. Sometimes black licorice, gingerbread cookie earthy pine and floral… fruits notes of grape fruit, apricots, pineapple. It’s just a wild ass ride here and I have no idea what to expect on the palate.
Taste - I don’t even know where to start. This is just a massively complex whiskey.
Overall - the nose is amazing. The palate is a wild ride. Most complex whiskey I’ve ever had and it’s not close the oak presence really pops on the back on of the palate and continues through the finish. The hug on this is significant and long lasting. I’m a huge fan of cask strengths, etc but this one lets you know to slow down.
$150 is justified and by far most you should pay = 4.5
$250 is absurd and a hard pass = 2.0
At $250 id much rather have the regular Seagrass
