A suprising and enjoyable addition to the lagavulin family. Very light in color, the nose is bright, smokey but with a lovely sweet note, palate seemed dry, slightly bitter with notes of toasted oats, campfire, and maybe pear.
Add a few drops of water and things really get exciting! The nose comes alive with almost a candied apple note, and the palate becomes far more balanced, sweetness through and the peat takes a more complimentary role before ckming up big on the lovely finish.
Loving the 48%abv on the 8yr. Wishing diageo would release a higher or cask strength 16! One can dream right?
