Código 1530 Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico

Dark fruit and butterscotch aromas, noticeably oakier than the repo. Fruity palate, some butterscotch and cinnamon, with a more chocolatey, oaky finish. It's quite nice, but not enough to justify the high price compared to the repo (or ArteNOM 1146, which also ages in wine barrels).

Appreciate that! Will look for it.
@Richard-Davenport just found that Cazcanes has a 100 proof anejo, that might be worth trying.
@Richard-Davenport there are a handful of still strength blancos out there. Codigo has a still strength anejo (45%), Fuentaseca are 42-43%, but in general... it's just not really a thing. I don't think there's a really big market for it, and 45% is probably about as high as you could get with an anejo anyways.
I love tequila, and añejo specifically for sipping—but I wish I could find some barrel-proof ones as I enjoy the purity. All the ones I see seem to be the bare-minimum 80-proof, which annoys me because it makes me think the motives are purely economic since the distillers are cutting it with water. Any suggestions?
