The most heavily peated whisky from the Bunnahabhain Distillery, this Staoisha is robustly layered and delightfully earthy. On the nose grilled pineapple sprinkled with iodine, smoked pear in caramel sauce, apple skins, and baking spices balanced by a whiff of seaside brine. It’s a real mouthful on the palate with ever present peat with balancing notes of caramelized banana, pineapple, sweet granola malt, honey and toffee. The finish is lush and chewy with peat continuing to be out front as sweet and spice slowly fade with caramel and grilled citrus persisting. About as fun and delicious as whisky gets.
