Mosgaard Single Malt Whisky Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish (Batch 8)

I stopped by the distillery in October, 2022 and i picked up a bottle of this. I've enjoyed it but i have not yet done a formal tasting/review, so here goes!
In the Glencairn glass it's a very appealing rich amber colour.
Nose: Dark fruits with rich honey and some cinnamon and nutmeg spice are up front. There are some leathery notes as well as hay/grassy notes. I'm assuming this is a young whisky but it has a surprisingly rich nose.
Palate: There's a really nice oily mouthfeel here. Rich dark fruits like plums and cherries with brown sugar are present initially but then the spice comes. There is pepper and cinnamon next as well as some burn from what I suspect is the young age. This is not unwelcome actually and is surprisingly a nice counterpoint to the richness.
Finish: Long and chewy with a burnt brown sugar/caramel flavour. The pepperiness lingers but interestingly the sweetness from the brown sugar persists even longer, allowing a delicious balance of sweet and spicy.
Overall considering this is presumably a relatively young whisky, I think it is great and I have really enjoyed every drink from my bottle. I would recommend this one for sure, and well done Denmark!
