Slainte-Mhath
Springbank 15 Year (Old Label)
Single Malt — Scotland

In all these years, I have never come across a bad bottling of Springbank. The 15-year-old expression is more sherried and surprisingly peaty compared to its younger brother. On the nose, you get smoked salmon, confectionery and pipe tobacco. A touch of damp earth, cough syrup and parsley linger in the back. The taste is strong, savory and a bit fizzy with mineral peat smoke, orange peel and fresh ginger. Almost like a distant dream of Islay, whispering farewell in its long and slightly dry finish. Altogether, this is a rewarding single malt and a great value.

@Slainte-Mhath agree--never had a bad bottle of Springbank! Quite the opposite, in fact.
There have been a few "rough" springbank 15's over the years. And even a rough 10 slipped in. That said recent 15's have been really good.
@PBMichiganWolverine That's why I don't think that Springbank is hyped. They are simply that good.
@Slainte-Mhath it’s consistently good explains why it sells out so quickly
I am halfway through the Springbank core range, and there were some surprises. I always preferred the 10 over the 15, but recent batches were both excellent that it is almost a tie. I will give it another week before I wrap up my review.
Additional information: Tasted and reviewed in 12/2017, re-posted to compare with a recent batch of Springbank 15.
