The history of cachaça began in 1985 as a small artisanal still on the “Casa Nova” farm, owned by our founder Mr. Gláucio Augusto de Souza, located in the rural area of Lavras, south of Minas Gerais. The Alambique underwent improvements to its structures so that production could increase. In 2011, André Luís Chalfoun de Souza, son of Mr. Gláucio Augusto, began the process of registering the brand “Tonel de Minas”, the name that accompanied the cachaça since the beginning of our production and in the following year his son took over the direction following in his father's footsteps. The highest quality and most profitable sugar cane is planted in the farm's own sugarcane fields. Production at Tonel de Minas is currently carried out by two copper stills, with a structured and modern environment for production. Cachaças are produced in the following versions: Relíquia, Gold and Silver. With an alcohol content of 38% Vol, Cachaça Clássica is produced 100% by hand. The softness of the product and its unparalleled flavor are guaranteed by the storage and reservation process in oak barrels. However, the producer did not say how long the drink remains aging in oak barrels. Source: Tonel de Minas website.
