The nose is more reminiscent of a bourbon than of a rye in that the sugars are upfront and forward well in advance of the rye spices. Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar with apples and black pepper are the dominant notes. The sugars coat the roof of the mouth when sipped with very little burn to the throat. The low proof point of 80 prevents this whiskey from having much of a finish with the flavors all dissipating rapidly.
