The nose is more reminiscent of a bourbon than of a rye in that the sugars are upfront and forward well in advance of the rye spices. Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar with apples and black pepper are the dominant notes. The sugars coat the roof of the mouth when sipped with very little burn to the throat.
