The nose is a burst of cognac with charred oak and vanilla, with hints of spearmint and fruity rye. It is very fresh and tantalizing. The fullness is off the charts given the relatively young age of this whiskey, really bringing you in to taste it.
The palate is rich and full, yet dry and chewy. Cognac is upfront along with a burst of pepper, fruit and floral rye. The initial tasting is very intense yet gives way to oak and vanilla to smooth things out on the back end. The flavors are incredibly distinct and powerful, in perfect proportions.
The finish is long and sweet with cognac, oak and vanilla swirl around in the background as flavor clings to all corners of the mouth. The intensity of how simple this is, is what makes it remarkable. The perfect blend of cognac and rye and a real treat, just like a dessert.
