4th pour out of this bottle.
Green bananas, nilla wafers, play dough, and hints of baking spices on the nose.
Semisweet and viscous on the palate, nothing else really stands out. There is a general sense of warmth and spice.
Finish is medium length, a little hot, somewhat bitter, baking spices, more green bananas and slight vanilla note.
Tastes like Bushmills. Not impressive.

@Anthology palate adjusting is an interesting thought. My palate has certainly changed over the years. Due to repeated exposure to different types of foods and drink it has expanded my ability to enjoy a wider variety. However, in this instance, I believe that my increased enjoyment of this whiskey is due to the green banana and Bushmills bog water notes fading. My money is on oxidation.
@jdriip Nice review! I wonder how much of the improvement you experienced from the later stage tastings/pours of the bottle was due to palate adjusting to the particular style or juice. My first time trying Jamaican-style Hampden rum, I was like wtf is this…not for me. Subsequent tastes (like 4 - 6 pours), I’m like this stuff is pretty good. I know oxidation plays role but I also think there’s a palate adjustment that happens with each subsequent taste over time. Thoughts?
6th pour and I’m starting to feel a little more positive towards this bottle. It’s starting to round into shape. Nothing more to report as to notes, but just a better overall feel. Bumped 1/4 point.
