The nose is strong with charred oak, cherries, dried flowers, leather, vanilla and smoke. It is rather intense and full, showing every bit of its age. It is truly something to get lost in.
The palate is very dry yet rich, coating the mouth in a strong mix of rye and baking spices, dark chocolate, oak and vanilla. The flavor is quite intense yet chewy, and very spice forward. This might actually be a good example of a whiskey that would benefit from being at a lower proof, as there are faint hints of nuanced flavor that are on the verge of coming out.
The medium finish is long, spicy and chewy. It all fades away surprisingly quick, but is highly memorable. At a lower proof, this would be dessert. Still absolutely incredibly.
