The nose is an amazing mix of charred oak, dark chocolate, touches of buttery syrup sweetness, with slight hints of vanilla and brown sugar in the background. It comes across as being a wheated bourbon, having a very distinct note to it.
The pallet is rich and chewy, filling the mouth with a wonderful burst of pepper alongside a wave of everything that you picked up on the nose. It's remarkable just how well everything carried over into the flavor. It is very smooth and buttery in the mouth with a very distinct flavor. Finger Lakes Distilling have made bourbon very similar to this, often with interesting mixtures of different types of corn, wheat and different types of oak for the barrels. I've got some suspicions, I definitely think this has wheat and possibly white corn, and to go even further out into left field dare I say this was aged in ********* oak.
The finish is long and chewy with each shoe bringing out more delightful pepperiness in the corners of the mouth. In the background, is a great mix of oak and syrup, with on top of being unique this is also sublime and addictive. A big regret is only buying one bottle of this which can now no longer be bought.
It's sometimes gets difficult to finish bottles that we truly love, but I'm glad I got to spend some time with this particular bottle and see it off having done what it was meant to do, which is be drank.
