Dark amber color with copper tones.
Lots of legs up here fairly quickly, but there's a sticky ring that persists and slowly drips down.
The nose is a big hit of dark caramel, creamed corn, brown butter. Under that is a bit of nuttiness and ripe fruit, and a waft of milled grains and smoke.
Its sweet up front and throughout, but is well balanced by a pleasant spicy warmth mid palate and just a hint of bitterness on the back end.
Soft but a bit thin on the palate.
Leaves me thinking of a dark chocolate covered almond rolled in cacao powder and drizzled with molasses.
Its got plenty to be interested in but lacks a bit in nuance and harmony.
I'm a fan and am excited to try it in a Manhattan!
Update:
Wonderful Manhattan, solid old fashioned but i got a little overzealous on the overall rating.
