An intense, Dark Rum by Master Distiller Allen Smith for Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd in Barbados; getting its name from the deeply charred finishing casks. It’s a cross section of Mount Gay Rums aged between 3 & 7 years with more than 1/2 of the Spirit dripping off double pot stills & the rest coming from the column stills. All of the Rum was aged in American Whiskey barrels. After marrying, the Rum was finished in ex-Bourbon casks & bottled at 43% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of Rum-raisin cream, vanilla toffee, allspice & a hint of brown butter; while a bold life adds notes of gingerbread, toffee, cinnamon & cracked pepper; that leads to a long rich & spicy death.
