In 1889, the steamship Vincenzo Florio, coming from the city of Genova, Italy, docked in Santos. ERNESTO FIORAVANTI and CATERINA FIORAVANTI, producers of Bardolino wine in the Veneto region and the well-known Italian brandy grappa, disembarked and decided to look for land in São Paulo. . They founded a city called Dracena. Oswaldo Fioravanti, one of Dona Caterina's sons, wanting to pay homage to his mother and matriarch of the Fioravanti family, named this new property Fazenda Santa Catarina, which maintains this name to this day. Today the Santa Catarina farm has adopted sugar cane, a versatile plant, from sugar to biodegradable plastics, through bioenergy production to our delicious cachaça, everything is used. In 2008, the owners of the Santa Catarina farm, wanting to add another business to their property, decided to set up Destilaria Vitória, a company designed to manufacture the highest quality cachaça, truly a product of sensorial and chemical excellence, with several national and international awards in its curriculum, today the home of CACHAÇA CATARINA, named in honor of this lady who was the inspiration. Cachaça Catarina Black was aged for two years in second-use American oak barrels, and underwent another year of aging in a Jatobá barrel. Of great sensory complexity, where not only the characteristics of American oak are noted, as herbaceous notes of this wonderful national wood, jequitibá, were added. Its color is also a reddish brown. Source: Empório Canela de Ema website.
