The nose is surprisingly gentle with notes of charred oak, smoke, leather, rye spice, as vanilla, caramel and dried flowers gently back it up. It defiitely doesn't come across as being nearly hazmat, but rather it comes off as inviting. As you keep visiting it, the blend of sweet and smokey becomes more and more inviting.
The palate is somewhat dry and full of flavor as charred oak and black pepper fills the mouth. Smoke, leather and rye spice come out with each chew. Sweeter notes of vanilla and caramel stay in the background to offer a nice balance, without making this any less intense.
The finish is long and bold with charred oak, smoke and pepper keeping the mouth tingling. This is an incredible, bold and simplistically flavored bourbons you'll find. Not complicated, but instead is intense. Some extra creaminess is the only thing holding this back from being perfect.
