J.P. Wiser's 10 Year Triple Barrel

The fact that this Canadian blend came in a plastic bottle made me slightly uneasy, but let's not jump to conclusions. Notes of honey, burnt sugar and mild spices emerge from the glass, and there are hints of breakfast cereals, pastries and custard. Not the most complex nose, but not off-putting either. On the palate, Kellogg's Smacks, caramel and baked apples with cinnamon suffer from the low ABV, this tastes a bit thin. Milk chocolate, butterscotch and soft tannins remain in the short finish. To be fair, you can drink this neat - I honestly expected much worse.

@jdriip Well, Canadian whisky can be a bit of a minefield... so yes, this J.P. Wiser's could have been worse. It reminded me a bit of a low proof Scottish grain, sweet and not overly complex.
@Slainte-Mhath a ringing endorsement, “I honestly expected much worse “ 😂
Additional comment: I think I mentioned that American spirits are quite hard to get in Europe, and it is even worse for Canadian whisky. I bought this J.P. Wiser's and a bottle of Lot No. 40 Rye to review, this is as good as it gets.
