The nose is full of rich oak, vanilla, brown sugar, barley and mince pie. It is incredibly full bodied, with oak being the star. The bourbon barrel aging is highlighted the most, with the wine casks offering a nice balance of sweetness.
The palate is somewhat dry and offers up a big burst of baking spices, vanilla and oak. Wine sweetness follows, as the whole mouth is coated in flavor. The corners of the mouth become filled with a chewy creaminess as the bourbon aging continues to extend its influence.
The finish is long, creamy and spicy. Each chew offers more flavor for this whiskey that is complex yet easy to read. The perfect blend of flavors is on offer here, it's barrel proof being a big factor. Very special this.
