Ardbeg Smokiverse
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed

Tasted blind beside an Uigeadail and a Wee Beastie.
Nose: peat, medicinal, seaweed, bubblegum, leather, most complex nose, most Ardbeg like nose
Taste: oily, better palate, spice, long finish, markedly better than the Uigeadail.
Finish: Long and spicy
The fruit that the marketing notes talk about is not apparent. The smoke is upfront and delightful. Smokiverse won this blind lineup.
I think a lot of people want to discount this as another Ardbeg gimmick but they will be missing out. It’s a good dram and I recommend that Ardbeg fans add it to the bar
Full blind tasting notes:
Black - 3rd (Uigeadail)
Nose peat, sweet, smoke, sea notes, burning wood, ethanol, more reminiscent of Lagavulin
Taste: burn on the tongue, smoky, short finish, feels like more of an alcohol burn that an aged finish
Red - 1st (Smokiverse)
Nose: peat, medicinal, seaweed, bubblegum, leather, most complex nose, most Ardbeg like nose
Taste: oily, better palate, spice, long finish, markedly better than black
Green - 2nd (Wee Beastie)
Nose: peat, mossy, hints of sour, less sweet
Taste: lighter than red, sharp smoke note, medium finish
