When I first opened this bottle, all I could smell was burning electrical wires. Rough taste. Now it's been sitting mostly empty for a bit. Tone for take 2.
Around is heavy oak, char, brown sugar, and a hint of yeast autolysis. Flavor is much improved, bit still something funky there. Slightly bitter, slightly tannic, with char and brown sugar. It's definitely improved with age and oxidation, fresh it was nigh undrinkable. Now it's got a little funk from the beer, and just isn't the whiskey I expect from the price point. Beers should be agreed in barrels, and then do something other than putting a whiskey in it.
