Nose: Lighter than you'd expect for such a high rye content. Toasted marshmallow, vanilla, barrel char, dill, mint, and a bit of peach make an enjoyable introduction.
Palate: Marshmallow sweetness, cracked white pepper, more mint and dill with clove and a nice oakiness.
Finish: Fairly short, but had a nice complexity of toasted marshmallow, pepper, mint, and dried peaches.
Summary: This bottle proves that chill filtering doesn't mean a whiskey is automatically worse. All it does is change the profile. The MGP 95/5 Rye is typically very punchy and spicy. The filtering tones that down to reveal some nuance you wouldn't get without the filtering. Great daily Rye. Great price. Pick one up.
