Springbank 12 Year Cask Strength (Batch 27)
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland

We're only two weeks into 2026, and I already have a strong contender for my whisky of the year. The nose of this Springbank 12 is sweet and sour, slightly mineral and very well balanced, leaning towards mango, citrus zest and soft wood spices. Brown sugar, custard and a touch of soot chime in. On the palate, juicy oranges, lemon drops and peppermint give way to pineapple, grapefruit and bonfire ashes. Creamy mouthfeel. Lingering notes of salty licorice, lime juice and molasses reveal the subtle influence of the rum casks. One malt to rule them all!

@Slainte-Mhath Because Springbank. :-) Springbank is not that available around here, but I'd love to try this as I've not yet had it. I'm going to look for it.
Additional comment: I have no clue how they do this, but these batches are getting better and better in recent years. It won the 2025 OSWAs as 'best single malt', and I claim you will not find a better 12-year-old.
Additional information: Batch 27 of Springbank 12 Cask Strength was matured in 60% bourbon, 35% sherry and 5% rum casks and bottled at 55.9% ABV.
