Nose: typical though softened whiskey notes, lots of sweet juicy fruits, some wood.
Palate: big rye spiciness hits immediately on the first sip but subsequent sips gave me much more of the port sweetness and fruitiness that was prevalent on the nose. Red fruits and nice spice balance. Enjoyable mouth feel.
Finish: mostly I get more of the rye with just a touch of the port finish flavors. Not very long but it's pleasant and enjoyable.
Overall, a very interesting spin on a rye with the port adding a lot of red fruitness and sweetness here. Maybe not something I'd consistently reach for but it's a good change and could be a nice step for someone not used to rye.
