This one is a Lees Summit, MO Hyvee West 10 yr pick. In a blind tasting, I immediately thought this was a very good MGP 95% rye. When I saw it was a barrel select Sagamore, which uses both MGP rye mashbills, I wasn't surprised During COVID, I was in Cincinnati on business and found a Rossville Union store pick that utilized the 51% mashbill. It was so good, I broke my rule of only buying one store pick (always another coming down the line and don't believe in hoarding) and bought another on my next trip. Haven't seen another 51% MGP since. Let's face it, MGP owns the best ryes, regardless of mashbill. This 10 yr combined MGP mash at 110pr is viscous and brings a nose of brown sugar sweetness, hay, root beer, chocolate, and licorice. Palate brings all these forward along with hot pepper. Finishes sweet. This is an excellent rye. No standout faults. Excellent straight. Ice eases the edges and brings sweetness forward. Really like it straight the best. Great pick.
