Review #73 - Whisk(e)y #53
Bought in a 350ml bottle, cork cap (very nice to see in these smaller formats), paid around 17-18 eur.
Chill-filtered - No
Natural Colour - Yes
ABV - 45%
Aspect - Deep gold - amber colour.
Nose - Quite alcohol-forward, sweet, oak, leather, cinnamon, caramel, honey, vanilla, pepper...floral and some subtle ripe orchard fruit.
Palate - Creamy and EXTREMELY sharp spicy on the front end, overpowering unfortunately...some sweetnees, caramel, and honey, but that is about it.
Finish - Medium in length, spiciness thankfully fades away, leaving more sweetness, caramel (salted? Weird), honey, brown sugar, oak, cinnamon, leather...maybe subtle banana unless I imagine things.
Really nice finish...extremely enjoyable! I found it surprisingly complex given my limited bourbon experience. Such a shame the palate is
a let-down though. Too much sharp spice!!! So close to being an amazing bottle...if only it was more balanced.
