Rich on the nose, with the alcohol tucked well into the background. Up front there's a pleasant oily texture, followed by dried fruits, with a distinct date note. The palate continues the dried fruit theme: raisins gradually evolve into unmistakable dates. The alcohol becomes more noticeable here as well. The finish is reasonably long but a little rough around the edges. Black pepper emerges, and the alcohol builds in a way that's not particularly pleasant. This release has a few interesting touches—starting with its quirky 41.3% ABV. But the story of the spirit traveling from Scotland to Spain already suggests this isn't going to be a high-end, truly exclusive bottling.
