I got this bottle at a good price $100 USD. I've had this bottle opened for a while and quite a few mates have had a taste. It's been an interesting ride now I'm down to the last quarter. I like this whisky. It does however have a characteristic that it shares with Bowmore 15...cat piss. It tastes like it smells. Might seem weird but it is what it is. Even more weird it still tastes great. It's not one dimensional though, lovely oak and other aspects and in it's early days of opening the bottle lovely light oiliness. In tastings of up to 15 bottles I've run it's been a crowd favourite

Aha thanks Pranay! Sounds a lot better than cat pee :-). There is a bottle store near me that sells it quite cheap - a lot less than other places for some reason. Must have bought stock a very long time ago when prices were cheaper maybe and just never cleared their stock? They are still selling it for $160NZ or $112 USD so hasn't changed much since I bought my current bottles
@Soba: MMB...3 Mercapto-3-Methylbutan-1-ol... it's an alcohol degradation...which is also found in Sauvignon Blanc. ( and my graduate degree from Michigan's Chemical Engineering department finally pays off!!!)

I want to know how the hell you obtained this bottle for 100 USD
Ah interesting it's a characteristic of wine. I'd love to know what the chemical/molecule is that I'm picking up. I worked with animals for a nearly a decade in my youth, particularly cats so the aroma must be firmly implanted in the recesses of my mind!
Cat piss is one of the official qualities that Sauvignon blanc wines can possess...so why not in a whisky?
Welcome to the "Revolting, but in a good way" club. 😂
Yes, and good cat piss at tha! :)
Cat piss. Well done---probably the first here
