J.P. Wiser's Special Blend Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed January 25, 2019 (edited October 18, 2020)The patriotism in me will hand this whiskey an average grade. I mean, it's not liquid Anthrax or anything, plus everything gets an average grade with 7up. 😏 I'd describe it, but it's so fleeting that no notes other than dill come to prominence. Slainte! -
Paul John Brilliance Single Malt
Single Malt — Goa, India
Reviewed January 15, 2019 (edited March 23, 2019)Bourbon undertone. Spice on the palate and ginger. Bitterness on the finish - long. Wild. When it opens up there's plenty of granny smith apples. This whisky needs decanting then it opens up. Not bad, but no Amrut. -
J.P. Wiser's Old Fashioned Whisky Cocktail
Ready to Drink — Canada
Reviewed December 24, 2018 (edited December 25, 2018)Followed the instruction, added some soda and a wedge of orange, and enjoyed. Pretty good. -
Surprisingly good - I thoroughly enjoyed this whisky. Fruity on the nose (probably the highlight) with notes of apricot (allegedly it's banana), honey and vanilla. The palate is something that strongly resembles a classic Speyside - very floral. The finish is short with some oak lingering on the tongue. Not flawless, and quite immature, but I'm glad I bought this one. Plus I gots to represent my peeps in Italy. Cheers!

Wow... @PBMichiganWolverine @LeeEvolved and @Generously_Paul reviewed this well. Great spirit! I'm more of a smoke over peat kind of guy, and Laphroaig is arguably my favorite distillery, but this is outstanding. In fact I could possibly fool knowledgeable drinkers into thinking this is a bourbon cask aged Springbank. Picture an Ardbeg 10 that is much more mature, with lemon zest and black pepper. The finish is very long and complex, with ginger and brine lingering. The palate is incredibly smooth, though the body is surprisingly fragile considering the 49% ABV. I recommend!

Bowmore 10 Year Dark & Intense
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed October 20, 2018 (edited December 31, 2019)4 stars because I'm getting a good dram at $43 USD for a liter. A little pricier and I'd 3 star it. It's definitely dark, but intense? Nah. It's barely peated, with sherry notes abundant. The 40% ABV is palpable on the body: there's no weight to this whisky on the tongue. Throughout there are notes of orange peel and cinnamon. Good whisky for the price point. More importantly, where else will you find an age stated scotch at that price? Only in a time machine. Slainte! -
Lot No. 40 12 Year Cask Strength
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed July 10, 2018 (edited November 9, 2019)Cream soda on the nose, with notes of vanilla and creme brulee. There's charred oak the palate with cinnamon and wood spices. The finish is bitter, like 90% dark chocolate, and fairly long. The overall palate is creamy and divine. Easily one of the best whiskies to ever come out of my home country!70.0 CAD per Bottle
