The first hit on the nose was a surprising chocolate that quickly disappeared. This was followed by all the lovely smells I remember from the Scottish shore, salt sea spray, seaweed and even wet sand. Just brought back lovely memories of living in Scotland. Finally the peat and smoke came in to remind me I was drinking an Islay malt. All the time there were sweet undertones of vanilla. On the tongue the saltiness is there from start to finish, a lovely taste of the sea. There is tobacco, peat and smoke. I can also taste a hint of apricot and the vanilla is still there. It has a long finish that reminds me of smoked fish and at the end salt and peppar. Such a lovely journey from start to finish.
